About the Meghalaya Tour

Six days across the Khasi hills: two nights in Shillong, two at Sohra for the waterfalls and caves, the Nongriat excursion for the double-decker root bridge, and Mawlynnong on the way back.

The root bridges are grown rather than built — ficus roots trained across the water over decades, and still living. Nongriat is the double-decker one, and the walk down to it is the real thing about this trip.

!Good to know

  • Sohra and Mawsynram are the wettest inhabited places on earth. Rain is part of the trip rather than a problem with it, but it can close roads and swell the falls.
  • The last stretch to Mawlynnong and Nongriat is run by local vehicles and guides rather than by us, so those charges are separate.
