About the Vietnam Explorer
The whole country, north to south, in seven nights. Hanoi first, for the Old Quarter and the mausoleum, then the overnight cruise on Halong Bay. Two domestic flights carry you the length of Vietnam so none of it is spent on a bus.
Da Nang in the middle: Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge by cable car, Hoi An in the evening under the lanterns. Then Ho Chi Minh City for the last two nights — the cathedral, the post office, the Reunification Palace, and a day out at the Cu Chi Tunnels, which is the part most people remember.
Day by day
01Arrive Hanoi | The Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake
- Met at Hanoi International Airport and driven to the hotel.
- Check in and rest after the flight.
- The evening is yours for the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake.
- Overnight in Hanoi.
02Hanoi | Full-day city tour
- After breakfast, the city: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature.
- Back to the Old Quarter afterwards, with time to shop.
- Overnight in Hanoi.
03Hanoi to Halong Bay | Overnight cruise
- Breakfast, check out and the drive to Halong Bay.
- Board the cruise and sail out among the limestone islands.
- Kayaking, a cave or a swim, depending on the boat and the day.
- Sunset from the deck; lunch and dinner on board.
- Overnight on the cruise.
04Halong Bay to Da Nang | Sunrise, then the flight south
- Up early for the sunrise over the bay.
- Breakfast and the last of the cruise before disembarking.
- Back to Hanoi and on to the airport for the flight to Da Nang.
- Transfer to the hotel on arrival.
- Overnight in Da Nang.
05Ba Na Hills, the Golden Bridge and Hoi An
- After breakfast, out to Ba Na Hills.
- The cable car up, the Golden Bridge, and the rest of the hilltop.
- Back towards Da Nang in the afternoon.
- Hoi An Ancient Town in the evening, when the lanterns are lit.
- Overnight in Da Nang.
06Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City | City tour
- Breakfast, check out and the flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
- Check in on arrival.
- City sightseeing: the Notre-Dame Cathedral quarter, the Central Post Office, the Reunification Palace and the centre.
- Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
07Cu Chi Tunnels
- After breakfast, out to the Cu Chi Tunnels and the underground network the war was fought from.
- Back to the city in the afternoon.
- Evening free for the markets, the shopping or the nightlife.
- Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
08Ho Chi Minh City | Departure
- Breakfast and check out.
- Transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for your flight.
