About the Chopta & Tungnath Trip
Two nights in Chopta with the Tungnath climb in the middle. Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world at 3,680 m, and Chandrashila is another kilometre on from it, with the Garhwal Himalaya laid out from Nanda Devi to Trishul.
Haridwar on the drive up, Rishikesh on the drive back, and private cab both ways from Delhi.
Day by day
01Delhi to Chopta via Haridwar
- Departure from Delhi by private cab.
- Stop at Haridwar for Har Ki Pauri and the Ganga ghat.
- Carry on into the Garhwal hills to Chopta. Check in at the hotel or cottage.
- Dinner included. Overnight stay in Chopta.
02Tungnath & Chandrashila Trek
- Breakfast, then start the climb from Chopta to the Tungnath temple, the highest Shiva temple in the world.
- Carry on to the Chandrashila summit if you want it — another kilometre up, and the reason most people come.
- Back down to Chopta afterwards.
- Breakfast and dinner included. Overnight stay in Chopta.
03Chopta to Delhi via Rishikesh
- Breakfast, then check out and start the drive back.
- Stop at Rishikesh for Ram Jhula, the Lakshman Jhula area and the Ganga ghat.
- Continue to Delhi.
- Breakfast included. Drop at Delhi.
